Ropes
MAIMUN is well known throughout Kenya for its wide selection of marine ropes for various application. Whether you need rope for mooring, or rope to make your net, we boast the best selection of ropes to suit our customer’s needs. From PE ropes, to Polypropylene and PP braided rope, our range of ropes is second to none.

PE Ropes
Our polyethylene or PE ropes are available in different colours, including green and black, and in 3 strand constructions. This monofilament fibre is resistant against abrasion and widely used in fishing. It usually comes in a 200 yards coil.

Polypropylene Ropes
Polypropylene rope (or PP rope) has a density of 0.91 meaning this is a floating rope. This is generally manufactured using monofilament, splitfilm or multifilament fibres. Polypropylene rope is commonly used for fishing and other general marine applications. It comes in a 3 construction The melting point of polypropylene is 165°C.

PP Braided Ropes
Braided ropes are popular for their versatility, cost, strength and color. The ropes are widely used in cynology, water sports (for their ability to float on the water), gardens, boating and yachting. Climbing and safety nets are made from these ropes.

PP Soft Ropes
Polypropylene multifilament ropes made of MULTITEX are soft, hold knots well, and are suitable both for leisure (camping, yachting) and for work. Because they are soft and are available in a variety of colours they are also suitable as ropes for cable railings or as other interior design element.

Bungee Ropes
This elasticated Shock Cord, also known as a Bungee Cord, has a tough braided PES polyester cover over a natural rubber core. This superior cover results in a waterproof, long lasting, wear resistant bungee cord, with high UV resistance making it ideally suited for outdoor use. All of our bungee shock cords are capable of 100% stretch elongation, although we do not recommend using a bungee rope at its maximum stretch.
Bungee cord uses include:- • Marine and Sailing Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and other Small Boats
- • Caravans and Camping
- • Car, Boat and Trailer Covers
- • Roof-Racks, Pick-Ups and Curtain-Sides
- • Tarpaulins and Trampolines
- • Commercial and Industrial

Sinking Ropes
Sinking lead lines may be weighted or they may be unweighted, but heavier than water. Common line products are Polyolefin blend (usually with polyester) or Polyester with a UHMWPE blend - with lead added to act as a sinking line for commercial fishing in Gillnetting, Crabbing, Longline and Purse Seine.
Commercial Fishing often uses both Sinking and Floating ropes / lines.
Rope Characteristics:- • Sinks
- • Waterproof
- • Rugged, abrasion resistant

Floating Ropes
Floating ropes are usually made using Polypropylene. Specific types include mono-filament, multi-filament and split film.
Polypropylene is a type of plastic that has a specific gravity of less than 1 meaning it is lighter than water and therefore floats. It is usually a tough and resistant material, normally unaffected by fatigue. UV stabilisers in the plastic maintain the rope for longer, delaying the weakening and brittleness caused by being left in the sun.
